Walk in 813 Bloor West

What actually happens on day one.

01

Arrive ten minutes early

Give yourself time to change and meet the staff before class. If it's a kids class, plan to hang around the front desk for the orientation chat while your child gets settled.

02

Orientation with a staff member

A quick walk-through of the mats, change rooms, showers, and lockers. You'll meet the instructor teaching your class. For kids and teens, a parent stays for the first-class orientation.

03

We lend you the gi

Bring an extra t-shirt to wear underneath, and a water bottle. Adults: photo ID. For kids, the loaner gi is returned after class. If you're staying to shower, bring a towel. The change rooms have individual stalls.

04

Class, at your pace

You'll warm up, learn a technique or two with a friendly partner, and drill it lightly. No live sparring on day one. Tap any time, rest any time, ask anything.

05

Book your next class

Before you leave, let us know when you're coming back. During the trial we set up a check-in appointment with a staff member so you get the most out of your free trial.

Adults training at Toronto BJJ

What to bring, what to leave behind.

Bring

The essentials

An extra t-shirt to wear under the loaner gi, a water bottle, and photo ID (adults only). If you plan to shower after class, bring a towel and toiletries.

Leave behind

Ego and jewellery

No experience is the norm here, not a problem. Remove watches, rings, earrings, and piercings before you step on the mats. It protects you and everyone you train with.

Don't worry about

Being unfit or nervous

You get in shape by starting, not before. Our beginner classes are built for people who haven't trained in years, and the room remembers being new. Show up as you are.

The hardest part is putting it in your calendar. Everything after that is easier than it looks. Pick a time, we'll take care of the rest.
